The development, which is located on the banks of the Liverpool-Leeds canal near Kirkstall Abbey, is funded by Close Brothers Property Finance and has an expected 18-month build schedule.
The homes — designed using Passive House Principles — are expected to greatly reduce operational carbon for future residents, using air source heat pumps to supply hot water, mechanical heat recovery ventilation to regulate internal air quality and temperature, high levels of insulation, and on- and off-site 100% renewable electricity — including a solar-array co-owned by all of the residents.
The modular closed timber frame panels will be manufactured off-site at the nearby Citu factory.
